anyone got a std v std vid of a JTD vs HGT in order to gauge the difference in power/acceleration etc....

Im still toying with the idea of a HGT but i really want it to be worthwhile to give up the 40mpg

Cheers

sorry chap... none from me... Never dared race a HGT when it was standard.

I needed a new MAF so I got the re-map done at the same time.

BUT...

a standard JTD is about identicle to a 1.6 & they are about 2-2.5secs slower to 60mph than a HGT.... using the run times from Donny South strip.

its really not worthwhile giving up the 45+ mpg of a remapped JTD for the sound alone. (hope PaulR doesn't read this, the sound alone used to make him cream, or so i'm told.. lol)

mine isnt re-mapped though, its not just the sound (although thats 90% of it) its the RCL, Leather (potential), Fogs,Skirts etc, i used to have a HLX and so miss the little extras

ive thought about getting the jtd but love my hgt too much despite the fact it loves its fuel

yeah but even if i did get a JTD HLX thats only part of the issue, i feel like i need that engine, ;)

Well i love my jtd even tho it sounds like a tractor, she goes like the wind (remapped)after her new clutch

To be honest in performance they isn't much in it between the JTD (remapped) and the HGT. Only difference is the sound. But then again a JTD can have a dump valve and the NA HGT can't.

I'd sell my JTD HLX if the price was right.

But dont forget you can remap a HGT nowadays :)
If you are unsure and happy with JTD stick with it. If you test drive a HGT there's no turning back :)

as much as i love the sound of the 5 pot in my marea i HATE the fact that it does 20 MPG (hey it did 34 on a run) if you can afford to run it ie insurance etc and don't mind that you are heating up the planet more the 5 pot is bloody great! :)

As said the HGT is an addiction once you have one, why do you think im keeping the engine out of my crashed one :) it could well be droped into patch in a year or so, and if the people im talking with do what they say they can and carry on what they do with m3's and csl's it will be a rather special od pot :)

failing that, once ive broken mine up i may look for another if the insurance doesnt rip me a new one :(

Patch is staying for a bit longer... long live the HGT (well the memory anyway... :()

I wish I could trade my JTD for a HGT :)

Traitors!!! lol :)

The HGT is amazing, no JTD owner wil deny that... it's just the cost of ownership that decides which one is best for you!

I'd have a JTD anyday! Not to remap but just for the fuel economy. I do far too many miles so am already thinking I may need to get a new car soon :/
