jesus a gearbox isnt the easiest fo things to loose is it!!!

and on the wrong gearbox thing, i have been there, used parts gateway a while ago for yet another replacement on my bravo, specified it had to be a late miler bravo box, but they supplied me with a punto box instead. was trying to get away from them hence me specifiying the bravo box. phoned them up and had a big argument on the fone with them, they told e it was deffinately out of the bravo, i told them there was no way in hell it was as they had choped both the mounts for te damn thing, and there was no way they were from a bravo, been there too many times. got a call back a while later and they appologised and gave me some cock n bull story, said it wasnt good enough and they offered to re imburse my vat, i said that asnt good enough, in the end i got vat off plus a further 50%

will never ever use them again im afraid

Latest on my JTD130. Got a full refund for the lost gearbox (it was never found).
I've just put the Marea on a low loader. When I bought the car it was with an AA loan. At the time they were offering free mechanical breakdown cover for 9 months. I'd completely forgot about it until my wife remembered and I gave them a call. It's possible I'm covered but it has to be inspected first.

Will there be a happy ending after all?...................

dont know if this of any help but my local scrapyard is getting a 1997 2.4 td in tomorrow the gearbox may be the same dont know thought it was worth a mention

Latest update on my JTD130.

At the moment its having a fully reconditioned gearbox (with a 12 month guarantee) fitted.

The bad new - its costing over £1060 inc VAT

The good news - the AA are paying £975 of it!!!!!

While its stripped and I only have to pay for the labour once I'm also having a new clutch fitted (£150)
