Hi,
I've been experiencing intermittent starting difficulties with this 2003 Multipla (JTD/M7/CF3). Turnover fine but won't start. Go back later and OK again. Garage has taken car in and want to remove fuel pump to send off for checking. Having read through various threads in the forum I think it might be worth trying to replace the camshaft sensor before anything else. I've tried looking up the part in the ePER but can't to find it ! On Shop4parts there's a part listed (S4P4473) however its listed as crankshaft sensor without the CKP/RPM in brackets. Could someone confirm that I'm looking at the right part? (sorry can't post URL as a newbie !)

Thanks

Nick

Hi Nick,

I have been experiencing similar problems with my 2003 JTD but mine get worse the colder the weather gets which may point to glow plugs?? When the car runs it is perfect and gives good MPG and negligible oil consumption so I am assuming the engine compression is ok.

Does your car run ok when it starts as I understand from reading previous threads that the crank sensor is at fault if the symptoms include cutting out while driving ??

I found the following URL that might be useful.

Sorry for the delay in replying - been away and finally got round to changing the crank sensor. All was OK for a couple of days but then the same cranking OK/not starting symptoms started again. Jim - thanks for the fault finding link. Certainly plenty of possible culprits !

I never drive the Multipla (it belongs to my parents in-law) but they have told me that they occassionally experience lack of power on cornering, leaving roundabouts etc. Sounds like fuel problem ? I've tried to reproduce this today but can't. Fuel filter is new and properly seated (thought there might be an airleak). Is there a seperate sedimenter on a Multipla ?

Nick
