Hi all,

I have a scudo with a 2.0 JTD engine, ive posted this here because this engine is in multiple models and im hoping someone can help me with a issue with the engine.

The problem I have is, under full throttle and high load the drive from the engine surges.

It feels like I am lifting and pressing the throttle.

Up hills it feels like the van is going to stop, and I have to make multiple down shifts to keep it going.

I can hear the turbo boost increasing and decreasing as the power dips and peaks.

Does anyone know whats causing the problem?

Thanks

Vince

You don't say what mileage is on your van? Could possibly be a few things, dirty air filter, bad mass air flow meter, blocked EGR valve, bad injector.

I've got a Peugeot Dispatch 1.9D (rebadged Scudo) which does the same thing especially when the engine is hot.
I'd be 99% sure this is down to at least one if not two bad injectors as my exhaust is a bit smoky & the engine can sound like an old Thames bus but your van might not run the same as mine & be that obvious.

Have a look at the air filter first, does it need to be changed then I'd probably inspect the MAF meter, EGR valve & then the injectors.
If you fancy having a go yourself, all tests are inexpensive & easy enough to suss out. They can be seen on Youtube videos, just type in the appropriate question in the search box.

Hi Steo,

Its a 53 plate with 126K on the clock.

Ive replaced the air filter and fuel filter within the last 1000 miles so 99% sure its not them.

Ill have a look on you tube, wish there was an owners manual for it.

Does it make sense that the boost pressure is going up and down?

The only times mine is smokey is the two times my turbo hoses split most of the time is clear.

If it's not smoky & you're not loosing oil, the turbo is probably okay. The only other things causing erratic boost pressure might be an air leak or possibly a blocked cat.
There was a couple of experts that used to be on here but haven't see any of their comments lately.
As for the manual, I think you get either the Citroen Dispatch or Peugeot Expert manuals on Ebay, they're all the same van. Just make sure the manual you buy covers the engine which is specific to your van.
