Hi , all , Joined for multiscscanecu hive mind rescource .. as have Jeep renegade (Fiat 500 X 1.6 diesel multi jet 2018 based)
That I’ve been fixing some issues that have cleared some codes …
Car has security gateway so can not just delete codes .. so I’ve started with basic reading and old school repairs.
Car bought as none runner , 71,000 miles at auction, and dipped in and out other 6 weeks as parts slow to arrive from abroad ( as half price Uk bits ).
To assist others I resolved initial non start by replacing of blown bulbs and other general maintenance..( did the indicator right and left to re-set fuel pump sequence) ..and fully charged battery.. used jumper to try multiple crank till it fired and ran ..
Cleared boost codes by changing cracked turbo intercooler, then running .
Next codes were for radiator fan !
Located 50 amp blown on LHS 2nd row down on fuse box , and sloppy bearings on motor .. / fan shaft ..
New fan/motor / speed resistor cured blowing fuse and cleared those codes .
Now on road , put a 500 mile test run up north and back , went in limp mode 3 times on arrival/ return ..
Cleared on keying on and off ..
Scan tool said o2 sensor 1 ( upstream).
Difficult to confirm which fuses /relays , swapped some about …not sure ..
Ran 2 graphs on 02 sensors 1 and 2 .. could see 1 was intermittent and going pending ( so has a power supply) .
Changed o2 sensor and graphs steady, fault fixed last 300 miles 16 starts since codes cleared ( themselves) .

So definitely maintenance friendly old school on starting and running.. drives nice ..over 1000 miles testing in two weeks..

Next issue I’m working through is flashing mileage on dashboard, I’ve had 10aa proxy alignment codes ..

A Security bypass cable arrived yesterday (needed for 2018 on cars ) .. my hands probably too big to easily install !

Also colour coded cable to hook up multi scan..
Got free version downloaded ready to run ..
I’ve recently got Snap on modus that I’ve got reading codes on car ( it has the last 16/2 card installed and all model keys ) .. still learning on it as only days use ) ..

I see there are muliscan users local to me , and happy to take advice from there experience please..

Last two outstanding issues that I want resolved that may clear with proxy alignment are :-
1 e brake warning light / service message ..all new pads , fluid topped up , level sensor working .. auto e brake applies and release works ..
Snap on tool threw code for hill assist ( it’s manual gearbox, does it have this hardware? Or is it a software glitch )
2 Tyre pressure sensors information dropping out ( new sensor purchased as front rh wheel says 72 psi yet all pumped to 37 psi .. other 3 wheels show correct when displaying, … I get the flashing tyre warning first 10 min then solid light at moment) ..
What is battery light experience on the actual wheel sensors ?
I don’t have sensor coding tool / local tyre guys want silly money..
Any you guys got one ? Believe valve I have needs cloned .. will buy 3 more if batteries fail at 6 years?
If not I will buy tool and do local mates rates 😜
Lot of this is thinking out loud and asking for experience ( not opinions please as I’m in to information and facts if I can please ) ..
I’m happy to do a code summary at some point , but started with two pages of them , searched and identified components that had failed and replaced as first attack .
Now down to no car starts runs and drives nice , no limp codes, 4 spurious faults / codes that I need to run proxi alignment for ( unless you know workaround)..
Ps it’s my first Fiat / Italian based car ..
Many years on VW stuff .
Big diesel experience
Hundreds of motorcycles, including V twins , V 4 , flat 4 and 6 ..
LPG / emulation..
GA engines
Every days a school day 😝
Regards Kevin

Managed to connect and clear Tyre sensor fault and identify Radar box missing in Ecu BCU connect .
Battery went flat on computer at 10:00 pm .. watched you tube proxy resets ….
Plugged directly in this morning with plain elm 327 lead and tried to do proxy …
Fail message said connection not fast enough..
Clicked settings in lower left, went in to drop down box and selected fast ELM lead update xxx blah blah..
Proxy selected and ran , stopping couple of times saying, plug in blue adapter , then grey adapter….
Took 6 minutes to run program.
E brake service light cleared ( as I have deleted radar module by doing proxy with it missing).
Mileage has stopped flashing.
Radar box alert has gone from top rh corner of dash …
All now good on vehicle for mot standards and safety ( I don’t want car braking for me).
I’ve found Tps link too that gives current code numbers of sensor to transfer to new one ..
But block states unit will re-learn itself when driving…so happy days ..
Total outlay £15 sensor , £35 leads elm and coloured switch inter connectors , €50 software…( old spare laptop with windows )
So under £100 and confidence in vehicle, saved £150 messing with new stop start battery ..
80 plus hours researching…
Extra £160 investment in snap on modus scanner as I wanted quality oscilloscope too.. ( for family fleet of cars )..
Jeep should now run good for at least next 5 years with minimum input apart from correct inspection and services
( it’s for a family member so everything perfect) ✅

Extra task today was remove steering wheel to change faulty wiper arm (used arm salvaged from damaged indicator combined unit (£15 eBay ) … box clips apart with care , small lead pulls out , no clips …
Plenty you tube clips show airbag removal inserting tool in to access holes on bottom of steering wheel … I find it easier to rotate wheel 180 degrees so I can get my head over to see where inner holes are …
After first clip released, I access the second clip using a different method.. there is an access groove you can see by easing over the rubber to the side of the airbag , so you can easily see where the release clip is ..then insert from front and pops out in seconds ✅
Enjoy 😉

Early start today as re-test on mot , I had to lower beam on lights.. packed mounts as the bottom adjuster had been over adjusted and stripped cogs on both headlights .. fortunately they clip off and can get an Alan key on the now centralised adjustment screw..
Passed ✅
So treat the car to its oil and filters ( didn’t want any spillages to cause tester concerns…
Service warnings re-set counters two days ago while doing coded / faults / proxy realign ..
