Well I decided that although it was a good idea and looked ok, it needed to look as best as it could if I wanted to continue to impress people ;)

so I set myself a little project, which was a total pain in the ass but turned out really nice :)

Totally smoothed the whole cover, as you can see in the above pics its grained and textured. not anymore :)
Gone for a 2 tone effect, Ford Polaris Met Grey and raised sections in Peugout Platinum Silver. Had to hand paint the letters on but made a good job of it I think :)

Hope you like, I know I do ;)

Cheers,

Thats very very very tidy mate. puts my painting to shame, lol. i left it all textured, saying, ach, its under the bonnet, hardly anyone see's it.

Might try that on the 1.2 i'm hoping to get in a few weeks though. you continue to inspire me mate. I take it you sanded it right down and put a tiny bit of filler on?

Nope, no filler at all. just sanded it right down progressively using different grades of sand paper down to 1200 grit wet and dry :)

3 hours of sanding...at least it kept me off the streets :) lol

Thanks for the kind words :)

what paint did ypu use? as i would like to do something the same but not black (same colour as me car)lol looks very very sexy though, good work have you got any other pictures of your car engine bay as im sure a lot of people would like to have a look

thanks S.darke

are you suggesting my covers black now? don't worry, you wouldnt be the first to say that, Sven thought it was too ;)

Its normal halfords spray paint, I was rather generous with the primer tho as it does get quite warm with the engine running.

pics will be taken when its all back in and finished :)

read the original post wimmy ;)

"Gone for a 2 tone effect, Ford Polaris Met Grey and raised sections in Peugout Platinum Silver"

so its metallic grey, I took the pics without a flash as its would get glare back.

You'll see once you see it in person :)
