and now here is my dismal progress

The three most entertaining small cars I've driven over the years were the Lancia Y10 Turbo, the Rover 114 and the Fiesta 1.25 Zetec.

The Y10 was a real scream, with a ride that convinced me the springs had been replaced by bits of scrapped Chieftain tanks and acceleration that would leave you trailing in the wake of a Transit diesel.....until.....your face distorted and your eyes ended up round the back of your skull.

What the Rover and Fiesta had in common was that they were both so incredibly chuckable and where possible, as a Driving Instructor, advised pupils to try and buy one when they's passed their test.

Unlike earlier Metros, the 114 held the road really well, had great handling that really could adjusted on the throttle and had really accurate turn-in.

The Fiesta had even higher levels of grip although the turn-in wasn't as good as the Rover. What I did notice though was that the model was progressively up-tired from 165s to 175s and finally 185s, the best being the 175s as the larger tyres didn't offer a significant increase in the level of grip but they did tend to tramline quite a lot.

In terms of driving pleasure your Fiesta was far better than the one that replaced it.

your right from what ive seen it is pretty chuckable. i havent had it on the road yet but i will do soon. she's got a lot of power for a 1.25. and i can't really tell the difference in tyres atm but he has 185/55 R14 alloys on

completely forgot about this thread
ok since that last post ive made quite a few changes:
fitted an induction kit
colour coded all the door handles
fitted escort GTI alloys and painted in metallic grey
also had the rust on the arch cut out and welded and repainted.
i fitted LED sidelights
and now the car pretty much sorted for the moment
