Hi

I have had my 1.2 pop since late October, done 700 miles in it and have had the starter problem. Took it to my dealer and explained that when cold and damp the car often takes 2 or 3 goes to start - following foot on clutch, insturment lights out etc.

I explained that I had read quite a few people have this issue and I had read on here, the dealer dismissed the forum as nonsense!!! :bang:

Anyway, whilst it was booked in, I also asked them to look at the economy and the faint petrol smell after start.

I got a call today to be told that they did a software update and all is well (so the forum is not nonsense!!), but they also told me that i am averaging 45 to the gallon.

I explained that for £20 I only get 150 - 160 miles (which would suggest about 40 to the gallon), they explained that it can take up to 4000 miles for the guage and fuel economy to become correct!!

Is this possible or are they pulling my leg??

Cheers

Dealers are notorious for trying to pull any available limb.

If in doubt, try another dealer.

I did not buy from new, so can't answer to the 4000 miles needed for the guage to become accurate ... smells a little fishy to me though

40mpg for a 1.2 is not so bad though, not great, but not bad either ... check this thread for more info on fuel economy https://www.fiatforum.com/500/223031-how-far-you-can-travel-one-full-tank-2.html

I have never owned a car where the MPG reading has been correct. From SEAT to Vauxhall they have never been right. If I fill up my car it will tell me I have 380 to the next fuel up, I have never seen more than 330 from a tank!
