Spotted this in the Rys' marea turbo build thread look at around 1:00 minute and you'll see a black 500 with black wheels having its doors blown off by the afforementioned marea and a vauxhall senator.

Just interested :)

definitely not I - stopped doing CC Action days a few years ago when they got taken over by chavs in old sheds (n)

Watching the vid in reinforces you made the correct decision. I was there on that day spectating & some of the driving standards were dire as was the condition of some of the sheds going round. Far more worrying was the incredibly laid back & inactive marshalling, overtaking in corners seemed common. Blue flags, didnt see one all day, yellow flags sometimes used but several times I witnessed cars spun out or having suffered mechanical failure & no warning being given to following cars. They did seem fairly skilled at dragging the remodelled cars back to the pits though. Definately somewhere to be avoided on such days

I dont completely agree.

the first show of the season always brings out the idiots but its just one of those things, its a cheap-ish day to get the car on a track for a change.

as for the marshalls, they do a good job IMO, blue flags are never used on action days i think they may confuse/fluster new drivers if they did.

i dont remember seeing any yellows while i was out but i also didnt see any cars spin out which is fail enough but in previous events they have always been there to give a fair warning of someone in the middle of the track as you come over avon rise etc.

i'd heard a roumer of the more powerful cars being split out into different sessions which i think could be a good idea, i'm not so keen on being on the track with 75hp cars nor am i keen on being out with 500hp cars (rather the latter though).

all in all, its still a good day out :)

worth spending a few more £ to go on a pukka trackday that is better organised and less cars on track - Castle Combe is a high risk circuit at the best of times without a bunch of loons diving up the inside. i have even seen soemone spin off on a parade lap there!
cheap = attracts pikeys!

So what? What did you see in the video that is sooooo worrying? In this particular session 2 cars spun. One of them twice and one three times. Still no accident and no situation that was close to an accident. And btw one of the two drivers that spun in the car was a girl, that isn't a boy racer and neither was her car a shed.

You could have saved us from your "knowledge beyond everyone" comment. (n)

Agreed

The first year I went I saw a car T Boned by another oik on the first lap as he missed his braking point (or forgot about the temp chicane they put on the back straight).

For track experience check out the airfield days by http://www.motorsport-events.co.uk/track-days.php between 99 & 119 squids for a whole day.
Marshalling is very strict, blue flags used, overtaking by consent only but the good point is if you dont let people pass after being shown the blue for a couple of bends you get black flagged, its treated the same as other bad & dangerous driving stunts. 1 black = a chat, second black = a severe talking 2, third & you go home & Ive seen it done twice. Track manners are the most immportant thing & once you work out things are being watched closely you can actually drive a lot harder.

If a driver cant understand more than red , yellow & chequred they shouldnt be out there IMO. Blue flags actually make it safer which must be paramount for an inexperienced driver

dont get me wrong, i'm not against using blue flags, and i agree it would make fore safter driving (being allowed past the faster cars that dont really want you to pass them) but not on these action days.

in the video the 300ZX gave me a hard time after i passed him, he took a late drive following the senator to overtake me and then was reluctant to allow me past again, a blue flag would of made it easier for me and the senny to continure our cat-mouse lol

If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen ;)

There are some questionable drivers at these days granted but then you get that on every track even if it is a full track day rather than an "action day"

Personally I think it's a great idea and is only going to get more people interested in full days or even racing :)
