didn't know the fronting was illegal at all.
Its not.
Only if as a result 3rd party insuance cover is canceled in the event of a claim.

I think that until your 21, any car you drive is limited to a certain speed, a certain capacity, and horsepower. Because it costs just too much to pay for insurance!!!!!!
What if you can afford a BMW M3 at 17...should be allowed one if you can afford to run it etc.

Whats stopping you getting a car that doesn't have a huge engine?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news. Again.
Fronting is always illegal because somebody is obtaining a financial advantage (cheaper insurance) by deception (telling lies).
Why?
Should the same be allowed for bikes then?
Too much speed Kills. Don't try and tell me a 17 year old is experienced enough to drive an M3. - There's no need for it and It's better for all if young drivers were limited to a certain speed etc. If you were given an M3 then the likely hood is your going to want to see what you can do, it only takes one mistake at high speed at it can all go badly wrong. Plus I'd hope it would be a way to reduce insurance?

So my friend is breaking the law, and if he crashes he could end up in court - he doesn't even know this. He renews in may, I think I'll show him this thread and he'll hopefully take the message on board.
Almost all cases of fronting are discovered when a policy is questioned following a stop by police or a claim is made.I was informed that it was only illegal though if, and only if, the poicy is void of 3rd party cover in the event of the insurance company discovering that the policy is fronted, as some in the event of an accident and discoveringfronting is taking place, will still cover for 3rd pary liability.
Dont really know much about bikes, so cant really comment.
Maybe something to do with it being two wheels? Might look into it though and see if I can find out why.
If there is no need for it, why should anyone be allowed them? After all the most your allowed to do in the UK is 70.
Why isn't there a need for it? Whats the difference between buying a M3, and 'cheap' car, and modding it? Sure people on here have got cars that could do similar speeds to a lot of expensive cars. Yet it seems ecpectable for people to to do the latter.
The same could be said for anyone with any car seeing how fast it can go when they first get it, I've seen hundards of middle aged men speeding past me in a brand new car (often BMW or Audi). They clearly aren't being responisble.
I dont see how rescriting what people can drive will lower insurance, I could have a Panda and crash it into a M3 doing 70, its still going to do a lot of damage to both cars.
Hope the points make sense, I've been swapping between posts.
I do see your point, It's very hard for me to come up with an anwser I could type - what I'm trying to say is if there was some kind of scheme where a driver would progess through, being limited to a certain HP, then once a years up, it would increase etc, after 3/4 years and no points on licence or any at blame claims on insurance, then any HP is allowed. I think the above would reduce the amount of accidents by young drivers (myself included) prehaps it has nothing to do with power, but you must agree it could be a soultion to this stupid price for insurance, mine was 5x the amount of the value of the car!
