I have been the proud owner of my fiat 500 lounger for 3 weeks. Really happy with it but have noticed a problem and wondered if it was just me. When I go to fill up, as usual the pump locks to indicate when the tank is full and I cannot physically put any more petrol in. When I get in the car and start the car up, the tank isn't showing as full I am half a bar off. Normal or fault?

Should be able to get a few more clicks in after the first one. I know in the handbook for my Bravo it actually says you should do a further 2 before the tank is considered full (so 3 clicks in total).

You will have to brim fill the tank to find out.

Premature pump shut of on some Fiats I have had is quite common. All down to speed of fill and angle of pump nozzle.

To check your guage out fill the car slowly and with the nozzle quite withdrawn. (initially no more than 1/2 in). Keep an eye out for the fuel. When the pump shuts off withdraw nozzle a little more and continue to fill SLOWY. Do this till you can actually see the fuel in the filler tube. Don't be fooled by any white frothing. Wait/inspect till you can see level fluid surface. Stop filling at this point and also be prepared that you may slightly overfill and spill a little fuel.

If after capping off, paying for your fuel (and possibly you have moved the car) the gauge is not showing full then I would get it checked out with the dealer. If the guage is showing full then will have to experiment at each fill up to get the best nozzle angle and depth.
