run the power for the central locking through a relay,using the on 'signal' from the courtesy lights to cut the power to the central locking via the relay?

Ive done the same to mine and to be honest with you mate theres no point faffing with all this wiring with the courtesy light. On mine if i happen to accidently press the lock button when the doors are open it does nothing, just tries to lock.

However the passenger actuator has already come off once but i seated it in an odd position. Anyway, i think you'll be fine. Even if it does come off its what, i 10 min job to take the door card off and fit it back on?

Also, have you wired it up to the hazards? I never bothered but i would be interested to know how you do it with that fudger of a fuse box!
