Hi Guys got a question for you, I need to insure the content of my car i.e car audio, sat nav and road angel . My car insurance covers up to £200 on audio equipment and this wont cover the costs. Have any of you got your sounds insured and if so does it cover everything . Sony used to offer a 3 yr cover for theft and a warranty on the head unit I had for only £35 for the 3 yrs. Unfortunatly this no longer is available . Can you help ?? Cheers Guys

I think it's a matter of ringing round, I never pay attention to stereo cover as I leave the standard kit in, but change the speakers - they don't tend to get nicked though, I don't suppose.

call your insurer, you will probably be able to increase the £200. They may ask that you take certain precautions to stopping the items getting stolen.

Things like a TomTom may well be covered by your home insurance even when in the car depending on the policy.

im with elephant and my stereo cover is set at £750, which is pretty damn good considerin most of the kit is crap atm.... they will extend that cover as and when i wish to a level i choose based on the cost of the new kit i will be putting in over the winter.

things like sat nav and road angels are removeable, and therefore most insurance companies will not insure them. similar story on the stereo... if it has a face off and that gets nicked, or needs a remote to opperate and that gets nicked the insurance doesnt pay out as you havent tried to prevent it hepening.. similar for manufacturers insurance... if you cant show you tried to stop them from taking it such as removing whatever poss, no pay out :(

Cheers guys, Andy this is very interesting . I dont have a face off system and the code gets inputted in the system its self rather then the old style of having to use the remote. I would need cover for arounf 1k for the system but I worry about the Sat nav and road angel as I have a garage but its a 3 min walk from my house. Ill ask my insurance company about this . Cheers for the advice !

Hi some one said that there stereo was covered up 2 £750, admiral have the same exept when you read the small print its £750 or either 10 or 20% of the cars current market value. So realistically a very maximum of £400 for any Bravo HGT owners etc. And obviously less for others, unless of course you have an 'agreed' value (not just the one you put down when signing).

I got a quote from Admiral last week, their fully comp insurance includes Car Audio equipment up to £7000 or something stupid. They were also the most competitive in my case.
