today i discovered a lady friend of mine is driving 2010 1.2L engine, manual, 174K KM! Never had a timing belt replaced as far as she knows (she owns is last 5 years).
is the 1.2 engine a Non-interference engine? :)

On the 500 (which had/has the VVT cam pulley engine) they are all interference. Some of the other models, like the Panda, were non interference. Generally the 60HP non VVT is probably non interference but the VVT 69hp engines are all interference. Recommended to change at 5 years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, it's quite rare to read of a belt failure on these engines - better not to risk it though as her's is well over if it's never been done. Our 1.2 Panda is a 2010 car and is just about to get it's 3rd belt.
