General Is my punto too slow?

ye i got 115mph out my 1.1 mk1 beat a 1.1 fiesta & a 1.2 Corsa! not that i think the speedo is right at that speed but ur 1.2 should show that to!

My 55SX only hits an indicated 107 (and thats on a good day) but it still p***es all over Corsas. Is it just me, or do Puntos accelarate like hell for their engine size?

Quite well, yeah. The FIRE engines are free-revving, and the gear ratios are much lower than similar Vauxhalls so although you need to change more often if you know what you're doing you'll always lick 'em. The problem is when there are more people in the car the performance just dies unless you change into a new gear at such a high amount of revs that the new gear will be near the peak torque at about 5000 when you change in, and that's razzing the engine.

Puntos and even more so Cinqs were always aimed at young Italian drivers, so they were always keen to offer as 'rushed' a drive as possible with a small engine.

Don't know the Mk1, but I think Mk2 8v 0-60 is supposedly 14 seconds. Not sure on that as it seems quicker...[?]

I've had my Mk2 8v nearly 3 years, and got it to 100 a good time ago. Now I conserve fuel and take it easy. I've found 5th to be okay for accelerating uphill on the motorway. Not fantastic, but not bad. That would be more like 60-70 rather than 90 to 100!

hey guys an girls ive got a fiat punto mk2 16v injection i managed to get it at about 118 with 4 people in the car.... got a six gear though which helps but it does lose slight power then starts speedin up again.. that normal?

well i gotta mk2 1.2 8v and 0-60 is considerable shorter than 14seconds let me tell you [8D] 15" foxes and K&N57i make me love reving the engine . Great little engines size for size there way more powerfull and torquey and other european equivilents for the pure reason there alot simpler .

Yeah le punto thats normal its as the engine speeds gets up and you get more torque (pulling power)

hey iv got a 1.6 mk1 8v iv just had my k&n 57i fitted 2 day now the car has a full exhaust system the K&N and a chip what do u recken it will top out at?
im gonna go down the M56 2 mo and find out
