Is it still fronting if a named driver uses the car more than the main driver even if the insurance increased when they were added?

I ask because my girlfriend will be using the car more than I as she has to drive for her placement and I will be cycling to work. The car and insurance are both in my name with her as an additional driver. When I added her to the policy the premiums increased with her paying the difference. Would this still be classed as fronting?

Thanks in advance.

No it's not fronting as long as it is used by the person that is main driver I've done this for 3 years now as mine and wife's insurance is 3 grand so we used a 60 yr old man as a cheaper way and he has been driving the car fronting is a hard crime to prove anyway

And the car needs to be registered in the main insurers name as any one else's with different details on it is a dead give away to fronting and makes the insurance invalid

But isn't that fronting anyway? Using someone else as the main driver to get cheaper insurance?

I won't be using the car at all that's the issue, unless I just drive it occassionally to go shopping or something lol.

as i am aware that is "fronting" if you look in your paper work it will say the main driver being yourself will have to do ( i will make a figure up) say about 65% of the driveing . and the NAMED driver will do the rest . but if the NAMED driver is doing more then they SHOULD be the MAIN driver

fronting is a hard crime to prove anyway

Regardless of the chance of prosecution it is still illegal ;)

I'd rather be sure before I do it as ignorance is not an excuse for defence.

As far as I can make out, fronting is only illegal as the act is carried out solely to deceive the insurance company for the purpose of cheaper insurance, but if the insurance isn't cheaper then no one has been deceived. This is where I'm unsure.

So people think, but I can assure you it isn't - feel free to continue believing that if you want though ;)

OP, what you have described is technically fronting, although it hasn't necessarily been done to get the cheapest premium.

Call your insurance company up and explain the situation, they may well be ok and happy with it, if not that can note things accordingly, and if there is a change in premium they can charge or refund you accordingly.

I see what ur saying my insurance company were informed when I took the policy out that the main driver would use the car once a week and they were ok with that and there a top tv insurer so surely the blokes insurer won't care if others don't

No because who ever insures the car has to be main owner other wise that is illegal and called fronting found on google today that that is true
