Hello all,

Just had my mk2 Punto 1.2 8v back from garage and advised need to replace throttle body. (idles at 200rpm)

Ordered full one with potentiometer etc, just wandering if it is possible to install new one myself?

I am good at this type of thing and have fixed most things on my car, just want to know if it is a case of simply unplugging/screwing the old one and replacing, or does it need some type of tuning/setting?

Any help greatly appreciated.:worship:

Thanks,

Oh and I looked through guides couldn't find anything

Very easy, swapped one over into my car to test last night in less that half an hour...

1. Remove filter box with the 2x 10mm bolts - watch for the oil breather pipe - this will need pulling out too.
2. disconnect ICV and TPS sensor plugs. Disconnect the throttle bodys earth with the allen key bolt.
3. Leave the ECU at the back of the throttle body plugged in, but unscrew it from the throttle body with the 2 allen key bolts.
4. 3x Torx bolts hold the throttle body on to the manifold, remove these.
5. Swap the throttle bodies over and refit in reverse order.

It should run fine straight away... might take a moment of cranking over for the ECU to realise where the ICV should be set at, but it will sort itself out.

I'll probably take about a hundred photos on my phone as I do it for back up!

Just got part from yard.

Has a bit of sludge around edges of butterfly valve is this ok to clean off? (my old one is spotless.) Think it might be something they put on to stop rusting. Although it doesn't look like it would rust...

cheers
