standard on the HGT models?

I have found a really nice HGT -

26k miles
1 owner
FSH

thing is I had kinda set my heart on having air con (and would have gone for leather interior but this is too good to miss as bargains go...) and the garage says he doesn't think its got Air Con.

Can any one set me straight?

Air con was an option on the mk1 HGT's but was standard (I think) on the mk2's - '98-on

ah ok - well like I say this one is a real bargain - and as its a 98 it could be a MK1 - or a MK2......

I'll just have to have a look at it on Sunday....

is there an easy way to tell the MK1 from the MK2 visually?

Some mark 1 hgts do definitely have it.
But either way it's got a FANTASTIC sunroof and the front windows go up and down too!

a mk1 will be a 147hgt, a mk2 will be a 155.

the mk1's say 2.0 20v on teh side, the mk2's will say 155 20v

the mk1's have a flatter mesh in the grill, the mk2's grill bulges out a bit.

They ahve different alloys

i think they have a slightly different front bumper

The top of the engine is metal in a 147 and plastic in a 155.

i think thats all accurate!!!

Really?
155's have a plastic engine cover?!
Yuk!
Don't suppose anyone's got a pic of a 155 engine bay?

most cars have a 'plastic' engine cover. they dont look tacky or anything!

Ozrical's 155

media

That cover looks like it's been super-imposed!
Looks a bit smaller than i thought - although physically there can't be much difference between mark1 and 2 engines.
Does look very neat however! But would prefer a nice shiny metal cover! (Well, i've had to try and clean my cover up quite a bit - as standard it looked really grubby!)

lol its a mk1 the headlamp washers are black and not colour coded. that is if all parts are standard

Air con was an option on the MkI's and standard on the MkII's.

What year is the car you are looking at?
