Im in the middle of installing my ipod adapter into the car but im now a lttle confused out of the fuse conection are a yellow and black wire i dont know what im ment to do with these wires i know where to plug the fuse into the back of the head unit but what do i do with these extra wires

Cheers

ok i have fugured out that the yellow wire needs constant power and the black wire goes to the body, but i need to know which wire to conect the yellow wire to for constant power can someone help or suply me with a wiring diagram for a punto mk3

Where abouts in the car is the player going? You should be able to pick up a 12V+ unswitched from the radio wiring loom. Make sure there is an inline fuse between your ipod adapter and the wiring loom.

Other places to get a 12V+ unswitched could be the ciggy lighter/power outlet or run a cable straight from the battery. Remember the inline fuse though!

i dont really understand the question  , was thinking he wanted to know how to power up the headunit

the mk2b/3 only has 1 power feed :bang: , caught many a person out

ok 4 get everything i just said i managed to get it all wired together the only problem i have now is the head unit doesnt seem to be getting any power i got my friend to check it and he said i had done everything right so im lost what to do now, my last option is taking it all to halfords and getting them to sort it eeeek.

i tried conecting the yellow wire to red wire but that didnt seem to make any difference so if some one had any idea that would be good thanks.

no i dont, could that be the problem? sry if i sound a bit thick im new to doing things in the car.

the other headunit worked fine and i only swaped them today grrr

Well not having a multimeter is not going to be the root cause but with awkward electronics (read fiat electrics) having one - even a cheap one can save you hours of work.

Do I take it that you are replacing the whole headunit? Whats the model number?

Have you tried switching it on with the car running? The 12v could be switched.

yeah im replacing it with a pioneer DEH-P70BT headunit.

I did try turning it on with the car running as well but it didnt make any difference.

im just kinda stuck with what to try now, thats why i figured taking it to halfords might help.

urrrms lol, i dunno everything fit together thats all i know, there was conectors that came with the head unit that fit in the back of it and then the ones i took out of the old head unit fit into that, hope that kind makes sence.

thanks for your help

have you tried connecting red to yellow?

are you replacing a standard headunit?

fiat only give you one 12v feed , so you have to find the 12v feed and connect both permanent and switched live to it

can you eject cd's, rotate face how it is connected now?

also check the fuse on the headunit, you may of blown it playing with the wires

can you supply any pics, might be able to give someone more of an understanding

ive had someone i know to look at it and from what they said it sounds like i will need some sort of oem adapter to go inbetween the head unit wires and the car wires, does anyone know if this is right

(he said sumthing like when the two things where conected the right wires whernt conected to each other if that sounds about right lol)

Thanks

Sounds like it needs a ISO to Fiat harness. Halfrauds sell these and should cost you at most a tenner. As Gaz said it might need red and yellow (from the radio) connecting to the single red from the car. Thats why the supplied radio harness has 2x plugs on the yellow wire (car end). connect 1 plug to the red and the other to the yellow.
