Hi, took the 500 for my first proper drive just there. Have to say I absolutely love it. It just drives so well and the toys are great.
Only thing was, on certain patches of road the road noise was really loud. Now I know that can in part be down to tyres and indeed road surface. But can it be quite loud? It's a 1.2 lounge.

No matter what car you drive the 2 ingredients are Tyres and Road surface.

My A500 gives out a lot of noise in certain areas but on a smooth tarmac surface it is a pussycat. It Purrs:D

In no way am I disputing you but the car has a lot to do with it too. I mean, stick crap tires on a rolls royce and drive it on rough tarmac and you still wont hear a thing.

Yes, it can be noisy on some surfaces. It's a Fiat 500 not a Rolls Royce ; )

Tyres make a big difference too. Mine has 15", I drove a Pop with 14" and it was a LOT quieter ride.

Same with my 500C TwinAir. I was surprised that the cabin noise isn't any worse than a Corolla, Yaris or Mirage, especially considering I only have a cloth roof.

And this is with the stock 16" alloy wheels. With 15" wheels, it might even be quieter.

Depends what you are used to. Our 500 is similar to the Mini that preceded it, and much quieter than the MX5 we had before that. Our Megane is a fair bit quieter than the 500. For a small car with big wheels and 45 section tyres, I don't think it's bad, and I certainly don't feel bad after a 2 hour motorway trip.

Hi, I had a 59 plate Fiat 500 1.2 sport and the road noise seemed terrible, even with floor matts! I now have a 13 plate TA S, with the same type of floor matts, just different colour, and I've done 500 miles in just over a week and am pleasantly surprised at how much quieter it seems on the same journeys. Is there any reason why? I mean I now have a different engine and probably different tyres, but that shouldn't make much difference should it! I even bought the interscope as I was expecting the road noise!

Well it sure isn't the mats.
