hey was wondering if anyone can help me?

im having problems logging into most web pages. the actual site itself will show up but then when i click on the link to login where the space for user name and passwords are it displays a message about being unable to display the page???!!! :bang:

this is on hotmail, my university intranet site and the lottery website.

any suggestions.....?

nope. was workin fine the last time i used the laptop then switched it on today an can only log onto FF with any success :)

Would this be that the particular frame of the web page login is missing you mean?

Could be a tick out of place in Tools>Internet Options>Advanced

Check your security settings,

Tools > Internet Options.. > Security Tab.

Click on Default Level.

Then close Browser or Reboot computer then try again.

If that failed try your privacy settings and set those to default:

Tools > Internet Options.. > Privacy Tab

I had this. I did a system restore to before I had the problem... your'll lose any programmes you've added since that date, but it knocked my browser back into shape.

My problems were I could log onto Yahoo Email, but not onto Ebay or Orange Email...

Have tried a system restore to a few days before i last had it working but still no luck :bang: my flat mate has tried a few things too (n) its gettin really annoyin now, might have to do an extremely long day at uni to do all net related work now

whats confusin is why did the system restore not fix it if the net worked on the date i selected?

Although the Proxy Server is not meant to affect 'Dial-Up' connections, I don't know how this would affect BroadBand Connections using Network Cards etc...

Tools > Internet Options...

Connections Tab > LAN Settings

Make sure everything is Unticked. Have you fiddled with any IP addresses?

Control Panel > Network Connections

Right Click the Internet Connection in use and press 'Properties'

You will be presented with a 'Dialogue Box' press on:

Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Then press Properties. Unless you have been instructed otherwise by your service provider, make sure everything is set to Automatic.

Not changed anything, which is most confusing thing.

Everythings is as you said to check but still cant log in to the sites,

oh an if i try log into msn messenger it says that my gateway is offline

any further suggestions would be appreciated

What ticks do you have at the security section of Tools>Internet Options>Advanced?

Liam

EDIT: tried this? UNCHECK the box for Enable Third Party Browser Extensions in the Advanced Section

Wow. this sounds like my most recent problem. I ended up having to reinstall windows XP. No matter what I tried, it wouldn't connect to the tinterweb through my gateway. I resolved it once, by running that horrible "internet connection wizard thingy... horrible horrible program.
