I have a 2017 Symbol campervan but built on the Fiat Ducato chassis. I have an intermittent warning light that I have found on page 77 of my Fiat handbook. The warning light shows an oil can over some wavy lines and an explanation sign. The handbook says :-

"The symbol turns on to indicate a failure of the low engine oil pressure warning light."

Does this means there is low oil pressure or is there a bulb failure ? Many thanks. Bill

Any help.

I had this issue in a 2017 150 Multijet and it appeared to be caused by the engine oil being slightly over filled (only about 3-5mm) on dip stick. The amber light would come on and bar graph display would not show when engine first started after being stood for awhile, and would not appear again until engine left for about 3 hours and it would come on again after starting.

My opinion is that sufficient oil was being "hung up" in engine after initial start to drop level in sump slightly and as such, sensor did not trigger. It also appeared the sensor would trigger if sump overfilled.

I drained about a cup full of oil out of sump and light was never a issue again. When doing oil change now, I fill to about 5-8mm below full mark on dip stick, leave for about 2 hours and add bit more oil to bring level up to just below full mark. Never has a issue with light or bar graph display since.

On most "normal" vehicles, a oil can with a wavy line underneath is oil level, not pressure, and while manual does say light represents pressure (or failure of red pressure light), one would think light would be red (warning). Also, why would you need two low pressure lights (standard red oil can, and a amber light.
