Looking for a bit of advice on a starting issue with a 2021 Fiat Ducato Motorhome with automatic transmission. I’m an auto locksmith and was asked to program a new key because the van has been having intermittent starting problems. Initially suspected a faulty key.
The customer said it usually happens after stopping for fuel or when the van has been parked up for a while. When they go to start it, there’s no crank, no clicking, and no immobiliser light on the dash.
They have two keys, one remote and one fixed blade. At first, the issue only happened with the remote key, so any time it wouldn’t start, they would use the fixed blade key and it started no problem. But now it’s happening with both, which seems to rule out a key or transponder issue. I confirmed that both keys are working fine and that the transponders are reading as they should. So I told them the fault is likely elsewhere.
I ran a full diagnostic scan, but there were no fault codes related to the starting issue. Any ideas on what else could be causing this?
