Hi. I have a 1997 4 ton motorhome powered by a Ducato 2.5 TD engine. It has had an intermittent problem since I bought it 5 years ago. Sometimes it runs fine, and sometimes it goes through periods where it loses power. My engine has a Bosch MAM in the airway after the air filter and I suspect there is a problem with this. I've taken the vehicle to a couple of mechanics, and they tell me the MAM needs replacing. 600 quid and thank you very much! However I suspect the real cause might well be an intermittent electric connection, for instance from one of the sensors that feed the MAM. A dodgy wire or connector would do this. Does anyone know how many sensors there are, what they are, and where they are too? When I remove the MAM to clean the inside (about twice a year) there always seems to be a honeymoon period when there are no problems. Road vibration seems to cause the power loss juddering to occur, and possibly damp weather too. I have seen some other (smaller) motorhomes which have the same engine but no MAM. I am thinking of removing the MAM to see if this makes a difference. There might be less power, but at least I'd be rid of the judder. Has anyone out there had a similar problem? What did you do? TIA ...
