Ive been having problems with no power and loads of oil sitting on the under tray.

Garage put up on ramps and has shown me the split in the intercooler pipe. I have absolutely no power at all and no turbo.

Ive been quote £391 to replace hose & MAF sensor.

Is the above quote about right and more to the point is my turbo affected?? Im concerned that im going to replace all the above for it to break again only to find the turbo has seized??

I wouldnt mind normally but the car is a 56 plate and its only done 34,000.

Will Fiat replace on goodwill??

Any help and advice welcome! thanks

If you have a split boost hose then you would get very limited power, your turbo will be fine.

What makes you think the MAF needs replacing? do you have an error code showing? It could well be caused by the split hose.

If it were me i'd buy the hose and fit it myself, failing that i'd instruct the garage to replace only the hose. Hopefully the MAF error will clear its self.

Hi James,

Thanks for your post - the MAF sensor code has come up on diagnostics which was part of the reason for changing; also when the maf sensor is disconnected, the "kangorooing" stops.

With regards to the turbo, im concerned as one mechanic had seen all the oil on the bottom of the floor tray and has said the amount of oil is far too much to have come from the split hose? Does the hose contain oil? To be honest there is a lot of oil.

You are also correct, there is no power what so ever. A number of codes had come up however the mechanic had accidently reset them. One was MAF and i believe the other was Turbo pressure??

I suppose changing the hose only is worth a try rather than spending an arm and a leg on other bits too.

Thanks James

I would just replace the hose. The pipe set is around £120 now from Fiat as you have to buy it with the other connecting pipe, they realised they could make extra money!

Until thats fixed I would not spend any other money or worry about anything else. Oil in that pipe is natural. Thats why they slowly perish over time.

I second that.
