Hi,

Dont think this has been covered before so i thought id alert other users.

I ordered my 500 ages ago, its been in the country since june, but since i was away for the summer, i thought id wait until monday to pick it up and get a nice 58 reg.

So came back late on tuesday night and had a message from fiat that they need my insurance, so thought id call my existing insurance company endsleigh to tell them to go ahead and insure me on the 500 lounge 1.2 manual, the manual being the important part.

Apparently according to their system the lounge 1.2 does not exist in manual and only in auto - after 6h 28m on the phone over these two days they have now come to the decision that the car doesnt exist and that it must be an import and they told me they cant insure me on the vehicle if in fact it is a manual.

Tried my own insurance broker and again on their system the manual doesnt exist either, so just be weary before making any plans

I can however confirm that Admirals system does accept a 1.2 lounge manual.

its common for insurance not to have cars listed try one off them compare sites and see if its listed on them (y)

had the same problem in march when i bought my new 08 model honda fireblade bike
but got ther in the end :bang:

Cheers, Heard about them on here, since ive been reading the forum since may, unfortunately since im only 20 most insurance companies dont want to know.

Although i have to say admiral were very helpful, im paying 625.25 for the year, and live in london, so much cheaper than else where, found it on confused.com.

Just thought id highlight it for anyone who may be considering them.

Also what type of recovery service do fiat offer/give if any?

yeah seems to be the perks of being a male driver under 21 living in central london, my 1.2 polo was £940pa before so this is a bargin!

That is the same as us, they are useless lol. They also said that are 1.2 lounge had an alarm and immobiliser, i thought it just had the immobiliser?

I got a good quote from admiral as well and I find the deal from moneysupermarket.com the best for comparing insurance so far. Also got to say when i asked for the quote in May money supermarket did not have the new 500 from the Fiat list, a quick mail to the web site and after 2 days they updated the list, not bad at all.
By the way regarding the 500 auto o manual, by Fiat the 500 1.2 is automatic, the dualogic system that is advertised in the website as an optional is not as such in the fiat system and the car with dualogic has to be ordered as Fiat 500 Auto. Think to let you know since it took half an hour to my sales person to find the dualogic to order my car back in April.

Just to throw my two pennies worth in!!!! Elephant were the cheapest for me! Same company as admiral but even cheaper. Also their customer service was excellent when some pillock drove into the back of me!

I'll second that. I havent got a 500 yet, so can't vouch for cheap 500 quotes, but I used Elephant last year on my Focus, and when it got vandalised, they were very, very good with handling my claim. Unlike Norwich Union, who were the rudest, most vile call centre that I've ever had to deal with.
