if you bought a car with alloy wheels but it only came with steelies as standard, but you don't tell your insurance company does it void your insurance?

technically speaking? do you mean if you have a crash and your insurance finds out you have alloys which aren't declared then they wont pay out?

well my insurance wouldnt insure me with alloys on so i just kept them on anyway.
it's for my mum anyway she bought the car 2nd hand with alloys and I only found out the other day that it came with steelies as standard.
Could the garage be in the wrong then for selling a modified car and not telling my mum? or not?

Depends i had a friend who was once involved in an accident with another car, was his fault and the other car had 2 alloys on, he thought this was strange but noted the fact as he'd damaged one of them on the impact. He got details of the other party, contacted his insurance and mentioned the alloy as he'd damaged it, turns out the other party hadnt declared the alloys so he was uncovered and was bump for bump, friend got his car fixed on the cheap, other party had to pay up themselves!
