My dad has just bought a little 4x4 (Suzuki SJ413 QBLX samurai)... I love it :D

We have been searching for quotes (with no claims bonus), and they are all over £1000. It's only a 1.3, j reg and he's 44. I think that's way too high?! It is a soft top, so that might make it a little higher? :(

The reason I am posting is because I wanna get on there as a named driver :D, I doubt I'll be able to drive it though, clutch sits about 6 inches higher than the other pedals!

Anyways, I have tried these (with me as 2nd)

Churchill - £1300
Asda (for norwich union) - £1290
Tesco - £1700

and a fair few more- highest one being £2400 from some broker out of the yellow pages.

Well, I hope you can help me :)

Yeah, I have tried admiral and elephant (pretty similar) Both were around 1600 iirc. :(

I have tried one of the 4x4 specialist ones, and that wasn't too good.

for the paj junior (broadly comparable to the samurai, although has a smaller engine 1.1 vs 1.3), tesco wanted £320 fully comp, this is slightly higher than i would have liked due to

a) off road rather than garage parking
b) import spec

the upside was that tesco had no trouble finding the car on their system (unlike bell) and quoting straight away.

After long talks, I am going to have it! :D Going to be about 1500 though  .... quite alot for a second car, installments are making it a little easier.

I am praying for snow

Does anyone know what the general policy is on cancelling insurance? Or do most companies not allow this?
