I have fully comp insurance and was told by someone the other day i can drive others cars 3rd party as long as the other person is fully comp,
was just wondering if this is the case and what the rules/laws are on this?

cheers(y)

I would check with your insurance if I were you. I'm fully comp and my dad is third party and I can't drive his car or even my sisters car who's fully comp.

Definitely check with your insurer. Most companies do this but a lot have exclusions for people under 25 etc. I have also been told that the other car must have insurance although not necessarily fully comp as well.

Amazingly I had this offer when I was learning to drive although I was over 25 when I started, I even phoned the broker to check who said no I wouldn't be covered but they check with the actual insurer to make sure and they were amazed to find out I would be.

Normally, and if your company allows it, the driving other car extension is for any car you don't own, with the owners permission and on a third party only basis, but it doesn't matter what cover the owner has - comp, tpft or tpo as long as it's one of them!
