Hey, earlier in the week as I was leaving Morrisons car park someone ran a give way, pulling out right in front of my causing me to collide with them. Now I'm pretty sure my car is written off, though I don't know for sure yet - but Direct Line have had a company come and take the car to be assessed.

Now here's my problem, today the person that crashed into me; whose admitted fault to his insurance company (Quinn Direct) gave me a mobile number to contact his claim's representative for Quinn Direct. I spoke to a lady and she told me that she'd be able to sort out a courtesy car, pay my excess through his insurance and the repairs.

Now I'm at a bit of a dilemma, because if I claim off their insurance through Direct Line I will have to pay the excess and I'll temporarily lose my no claims... However these will both be refunded once the claim is sorted out, although this may take a while. If I claim through Quinn Direct on his insurance it will be sorted out straight away but this would mean cancelling the claim with Direct Line which will offer me absolutely no security if things go wrong (according to Direct Line anyway).

So which would you suggest I do, continue with the claim on my insurance; which will be refunded once the liability is settled (which isn't a problem) or claim on his insurance through his insurance?

Firstly is your car driveable? If so get it back so your not motorless.

Secondly, get your insurance company to get confirmation of 3rd party liability before repairing your car, this then means you won't have to cough up an excess.

If need be contact Quinn directly yourself to get them to confirm liability with you personally in writing so you can send a copy to direct line (might be quicker than waiting for direct line to sort it).

Seems dodgy that you got a mobile number for Quinn. I'd advise NOT to call that number again as its not normal. Also do NOT have any contact with the 3rd party now as it can cause a whole load of trouble. If they contact you say your terminating the call as you've been recomended to.

If you decide to process it with quinn and not use DL you have exactly the same protection. As they're all governed by the same laws. No point though as you've already contacted your insurance company now.

Got any pic's of the damage?

Jon.
