Battery light came on together with ABS and Handbrake warning light, :bang:
bat light coming on when engine at speed and going off at idel, suspect bad battery, changed battery this morning charging now fine, abs and handbrake light still on although not immediatly on start up, also today whilst driving for petrol all instruments started to dance then died, they came back later some fully otheres partially.
Please help i was over the moon when i bought her now i am not so sure.

cheers

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Instruments dancing and intermittent; sounds like a bad circuit somewhere. Check right hand dash earth and whether the fuse is secure. The console plugs are quite secure but its poss that someone has had it out and not put them back properly.

Check any looms you can find for wear or water.

Good luck and let us know how you get on :)

thanks for that polecat,
the problem with the cluster only hapened the once, and i now believe it to be down to a looose alternator belt , i.e lack of powere etc, squealing last night whilst going the match lots of power being drained,(raining and dark, and cold) took a look this morning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how do i tighten that belt which already looks taught????
thanks

Its a pain to work on due to lack of space. The only problem with having a monster engine ;)
If its not an auto adjuster then there will be a tensioner near the bottom of the belt. It is advised that you use a tension gauge to set it up. If you are having problems with the belt it may be worth checking its condition and replacing it if poor.

hi, thanks for the replies, took to auto electrician today, alternator is overcharging (so is the auto electrican) only £285 for a new one fitted, bargain !!!!!.

if it cures it i will let you know,

sorted, £264 new alternator, all problems now history , other than the leaking power steering he told me about putting the new alt on !! oh well.

thanks for the advice
