Hey all,

My Multi is leaking oil again this time from the sump and there doesn't seem to be much left of the gasket, I can't see any damage, but it doesn't have a gasket.....

There seems to be loads of different instant gasket types out there, some advise or recommendations would be great please?

Thanks!

oh and all the other issues  don't ask for now I don't wanna say something and jinx it (y)

There doesn't necessarily have to be a gasket, the gearbox cover-plate for example doesn't have one either.

I use Blue Hylomar, but there are plenty of others that will work just as well.
The important thing is no to cake it on thickly, you only need a light smear, as long as there's a continuous film all the way round it'll be fine.

Try and keep it away from the inner edges, to minimise the amount that gets squeezed out to the inside.
I dab it on in small amounts all the way round, then spread it carefully with a finger to get a uniform coating.

You need to get it around each bolt-hole as well, not just to one side or the other.

Get both surfaces as clean and dry as possible before applying, carb cleaner spray is good.

ePER shows no gasket.
Any automotive RTV silicone goo (not bath sealant) should be fine.
Make sure both sump and engine block surfaces are clean and dry. So easy lying on your back underneath.
On the sump only, squeeze a bead of sealant all the way around, including a full circle around each bolthole. Bead should be ok about 2-3mm diameter, no more to avoid excess getting into sump and blocking pickup strainer.
Leave the sealant to partially set. Not sticky to touch, but still soft. Use a few strips on a bit of cardboard for test purposes.
Then lift it back up and secure. Tighten bolts finger tight first, to ensure sump is not distorted, then tighten evenly.

Don't forget to refill with oil, before restarting.
