Fist off you will need an old wire coat hanger. Using some wire cutters cut out four straight pieces about 8cm's long. They need to be long enough to be pushed through the four small holes on the standard stereo.
Followed this now 6 year old guide to the T when installing my Kenwood BT-43U stereo and it worked like a charm 1st time, with the radio going OFF and ON with a turn of the ignition switch. yumm...
hiya everyone...i am now stuck on installing a aftermarket stereo...i have installed the iso lead it came with..and it works all fine with ignition ...turn ignition on..the unit comes on..turn ignition off the unit switches off..but i have no memory to the head unit everytime i turn ignition off it resets all the settings
ah..just seen mooncheese post obout the yellow and red wire...im still a little confused..do you join the wires from the new harness you get with the head unit
all sorted now doing it mooncheese way didnt work for me..the unit came on but i could not turn it of..so i swapped both the red wire and yellow bullets round and the ..and it all works perfect
You can always take the 'ignition controlled' wired off of your cigarette lighter. A was searching under the hood but there doesn't seem to be an switched wire anywhere other than the cigarette lighter inside.
Here's a double-din version I've built in my car. It's a JVC AV-61BT.
I took out my standard Fiat radio / cassette player plus the metal cage and installed the new facia . . . all fine up to this point. The aftermarket stereo appears to have no live feed to it . . . its as dead as a door nail. The Fiat stereo worked fine and the aftermarket stereo worked ok until I installed it in my 2004 Stilo. :bang:
I did notice on my previous Stilo, where the aftermarket stereo originated from, that one of the thin wires leading into the back of the stereo had been cut and paired with another. Does this make sense to anyone?
