General Insane consumption :(

Well, as the title states, my Tipo is simply too damn thirsty 1.4 i.e. , and only does 16.8 mpg (14l/100km) the car starts fine, idles fine, goes great , but the consumption is OMG ....and as far as I could notice, it guzzles the same, whether i floor it, or am gentle as possible It is driven almost constantly in the city, but on a recent 500km trip, my father was still able to increase the mpg to almost 35-40 mpg . So outta town, it still drinks almost the same, but inside, phew....where do I start, so far I only checked out my lambda, and on a warm engine, it still shows up only 0.2 volts, varying slightly(0.1) when floored or idling :S by the looks of it, its constantly telling the engine to send more fuel, but i cant belive that itself can be responsible for such poor mpg

I recently had terrible consumption until the last quarter was left in the tank...
then it was quite good... found a hose had worked off the return pipe and was dumping fuel everywhere...

you can see it if you look from the side of the car... worth a check to start with.

Unfortunately, thats not it, this has been goin on for a while now, it didnt increase in a few days....
