Hi,

today I've changeg the thermostat on my Tipo 1.4 i.e. I found out, that the old one did not work anymore (was opened all the time), since my coolant temperature was always 50 °C or lower, when I wasn't driving in the city. And my fuel consumption was abnormal during winter time. Now my revs are lower (800-850), and car worms up to 90 °C in 5-10 mins. Will this affect my fuel consumption ?

Thanks

Was it an easy swop? I'm gonna do mine too, maybe this weekend :)

Yes, you just disconect 2 hoses (1 large and 1 small) from it, unscrew two bolts and it's out. You loose aprox 2 liters (maybe more) of coolant liquid coming from the engine block.

I should really do that. My thermostat went and I've just got a switch I flick on when the engine hits 70C, and stays on from there onwards. 90C eh? Interestsing... that's why my fuel efficiency is crap! :D
