No idea how it happened, but one ball fell off the spider while the gearbox was out. Circlip and needles must have been in the dripping grease that was tidied away so I can't examine them for clues. Just an unlucky tap I'd guess.
Anyway. Can't find much online to tell me whether I can buy just the spider or if it has to be the whole shaft. If I had a decent bearing supplier nearby I'd just get some needles and a circlip, but no such luck.
I'm going to be limited to one local motor factor if I want it tomorrow (and that's certain to mean whole shaft) but I don't mind waiting a day if somebody can point me at a spider seller?
