Injector prob?

Driving home tonight the red injector light came on & the car felt like it was running on 3 cylinders.
I stopped & turned the motor off.
Started the motor again & all seemed well untill I accelerated.
On came the red light again.
I looked in my fiat hand book & it stated that I could drive a short distance, as i was 12 miles from home I chanced it.
Got home ok,car drank fuel & had no power but maintained a lumpy 60 mph.

Is one of the injectors knackered or all 4 done for?
Car is a 1600 16v Brava auto & has done 76,500 miles.
It had an engine rebuild 3k ago when the timing belt went.
Would something like redex cure it?
If not how much is it gonna cost at my local non Fiat garage.

Sounds like an injector bud, I had one go down, its easy enough to locate the culpret tho i got an autoelec out to confirm. it cost me £90 for the injector an did it my self (2hours ish). I know people recomend to change all 4 but i can only speak for myself but i had no change in fuel or performance and its been over 3 years no probs (touch wood)

Fiat will try an pull ya pants down but try this

Took car up to local garage.
They said they would take a look at it & do a diagnostic check on it.
Rang them to see how it was going.
Told me number 1 injectors gone mate.
I asked how much are we talking here?

£170 per injector from Fiat at Loughborough,
£66 for diagnostic check
£147 for 2.5 hrs labour
+ 17.5% vat

= £450 !!

Just got back after telling them dont bother & just paying the £66 diagnostic check bill.

Popped into the local car spares place & chucked £5 of redex at it as a last resort thinking kill it or cure it.

Guess what happened to the red injector light?

It went out.

So drove like I was 18 again around the quiet country lanes back home redlining it in 1st & 2nd gear.

Got home & its sitting there outside ticking over as sweet as a nut.

So at the moment Im as happy as Larry again.

Hi Justin. Yeah the wheel has since been refurbed and sprayed and is on the car. You got me out of a fair bit of trouble there so ta very much!

£66 for a diag nostic check!!! holy c r a p!!!

the were trying to string you out m8. fiat charge £103 for an injector and about £100 to fit!!!! diag is free if they do the work!
