Injector light coming on at low throttle??

Hi,

My 147HGT (1998) is showing the injector light when driving the car on low throttle, when you drive it in a lower gear at a higher throttle opening then it doesn't happen.
Example...doing 70 on the motorway in 5th you hardly need any throttle, trouble is the injector light comes on and the car hesitates when you put your foot down. If I then drop her into 4th and drive at 70 then no problems.

So is this an injector issue? Or could it be ECU?

And can I take it to a garage other than a Fiat garage to have her looked at?
She's done 123,000miles.

Am I right in thinking that if you drive normally, with little acceleration, the revs take a while to build up, but as soon as you floor it or go beyond 3-4k revs, it goes as it should ??

If that's the case, it's more than likely the MAF sensor, as mine did the same..

Probs best to get a diag test done though, just to be sure.

Well......
Around town and in traffic it is not noticable as you are up and down the gears.
It is only noticeable when driving at a constant speed on low throttle. That is when the injector light comes on and you get a slight misfire. As you put your foot down she stutters and then yeah, once you get over 3500ish the misfore goes and she is fine.

I've just had a look on the repair guide and it looks more like fault 2 on the injector section rather than points 1 or 3.

Sorry for the dumb question....Is there a MAF on petrols? The bit in the repair guide mentions Diesels.

Yes, the MAF is in exactly the same place on the HGT as on the JTD. Between your filter box and the engine.

The cleaning guide does work in some cases but not all, you just have to be very careful when doing it.

if you're lucky, it may just have some dust on it, but, as your car has been to the moon and back, it might be goosed.
