Hope it's OK starting a new thread, can see bits of my problem in other threads not always sure if they are carb or injection based.

Car - 1997(Malta) UNO 1.0 ie INJECTION. about 30,000 miles only.

Fault - not heat related, in fact in ambient temps of about 40 deg C the car runs fine, probelm likeley to occur at the start of a climb up one of our many hills where it gives 2-3 very short vicious engine cut outs. It will then pick up and be perfect for the remaing journey. (doesnt actually stop and need restarting)
There is often a smell of petrol.

Also it will sometimes stall from tickover speed but restart immediately.

A thread in Panda section shows an ECU set up procedure. It means disconnecting battery- reconnecting and starting car without touching peddle. I cant do this as the car (warm or cold) engine will stop after about 30 secs unless peddle gets a blip when it will keep running OK. I am hoping this is a big clue ?

So far have changed plugs, HT leads, vacuum unit (which was clapped) and checked timing at just below 5 degrees. Also lots of injector cleaner in tank.
Thinking of the secondry fuel filter next but not full of confidence but I think its a fuel problrom.

Apart from the above the car runs really well, pulls, accelerates and cruises smoothly.

Thanks for looking.

In the abscence of any replies I am now able to answer my own question in case it helps anyone with the cutting out problem.
I tried many little tests (also changed a filthy secondry fuel filter) with reference to some entries on the site notably from Alex and a very knowledgable Italian gent (who was concerned about his English which was in fact perfectly understandable - well done - sorry cant find the link with your name in it.)

I did not go for the finned ECU on the distributor earlier because my problem did not seem heat related - why should an encapsulated transistor pack fail from cold startup in a couple of minutes one day yet run OK for the next week in ambients of up to 40 C.

Well it eventually manifested it self as heat related when the car stopped some way from home and would only restart now after a 2 hour cool down. Had to get it home in stages as now the aformentioned CU had well and truly gone. Fortunately they are a stock item in Malta so for 29 Euro back on the road the next day. Think I will buy a spare.
