bought a 2nd hand BMC CDA induction kit it was for a saxo vtr/s.

does anyone still have th instructions from their BMC CDA when they bought it for the bravo?
i managed to almost get the whole airbox out except the little pipe at the bottom?

not really sure what to do so some instructions would be useful!



ok so below is a picture hope this helps.

now obviously i connect the top pipe, but the bottom one splits off to the radiator and another smaller pipe comes up from below?

do i just ignore them both and run the cold air feed from the induction kit down towards the bumper and fasten it or does it need to be attatched elsewhere?

dont worry about the small pipe at the bottom, it passes exhaust fumes into the intake on very cold idle to aid combustion, its not a problem.

i would replace the airbox with the CDA using the original pipes and leaving everything in its original place. it will look nice and original, and the stock intake is in a fairly good place so you might as well use it.
 
cheers people, you jus helped loads! doesnt sound to bad, except trying to get that airbox out was difficult so may leave it in there, especially if i want to sell the car as standard a few years down the line!

Whys that. Its not moving anywhere and doing to damage. To be honest im going have a bash at removing the bottom of the airbox and fitting a cold air feed tomorow. I dont see why i should have it like it is now tho?

Edit: i dont have a cda. I have a jetex filter that is basically in my engine like this.

to remove the bottom of the airbox you remove the wheel and then the access panel in the wheel arch liner and then lower the box down through it, very easy job.
 
an overnight bath is diesel works, but make sure you let it drip dry for a few hours before refitting.

your filter looks brand new, dont clean it for a long time.
 
i soak mine in diesel once a year usually, judging by the sediment left in the bottom of the container it must do something good. i tend to give a good bit of dunking and swirling to agitate any bits of crap out of the filter element. i also blow into it with it submerged in diesel because the bully noise is fun. another advantage of using diesel is you dont need to oil the filter afterwards, the diesel does that job nicely. just make sure it is thoroughly drip dried before you refit it or you'll kill the MAF (if you have one). diesel is safer for this reason than using the filter oils as diesel is less flammable so its less likely to burn the hot film on the MAF.

petrol works too but that tends to rust anything that isnt stainless steel. same for water, although water doesnt dissolve very much so i wouldnt use that.

forgot to mention, i usually hoover it first to remove any larger loose debris from the outer surface.
