induction kit? good idea?

yo i have just put an induction kit on my 1.2 brava
it seems to be doing less miles to the gallon is this normal? can i do anything to stop it drinking so much. i dont no very much about cars lol. many thanks

It is probably because it sounds nice you keep putting your foot down! If you want to put your MPG back to normal, then take it off!!

so your saying that if i dont put my foot down it should't use anymore gas than normal. is there any benefit to them then?

Maybe 1 or 2bhp but by and large, a gimmick. An expensive one at that.

ive got a 1.2 aswell and ive had a k&n air filter on mine and then switched to a ramair one..to be honest i think all it does is give it a more throaty sound rather than add that much difference to the perfomance...

mine also now drinks petrol like crazy but thats probs got something to do with all my other mods and the fact that i put my foot right down to the floor..i managed to kill my fuel injectors not so long ago..but theyre fine now!

Any car me or my friends have put an induction air filter on has never done anything noticable for bhp, it is a gimmic, but a cool, one they do sound good which is why you put your foot down and waste more petrol, just be thankful you havnt got a cat back axhaust thats even worse, i dread when i get my air filter as well :-S

A properly designed induction kit will give more torque and power, but a lot on the market are a cheap compromise. A performance panel filter in the standard air box will give a couple of extra bhp and make the throttle more responsive.

just dont leave it till the air filter is full of dust n bugs then try to fit one at a car show (sorry dan)!
i've just got a cheapo generic one but honestly apart from noise they do bog all.(i like noise tho )
mine has made my mpg go up (no not down) but thats more to do with he engine not having to breath through a bug infested panel filter.

basically, its up to you, ye want noise get one, if ye all about the sensible economy bag, it isnt worth it!
