Induction filter? WHAT ELSE??

i know there's more induction questions than anything else, however i require some more info.

Looking to buy either one of these IGT / Pipercross filters. However! I've a 1.8 HLX and from looking at the airbox area under the bonnet i can't see how by just fitting the filter on the end of the rubber tubing just after the sensor will do anything any justice??

This means the filter will be situated withing the original area filter compartment, therefore not getting much cold air at all.

And do i need anymore pipe work, i mean from the rubber tubing to the filter.

Replies are very much appreciated to a too common question

Cheers peeps

If your kit doesnt come with a cold air feed, but one from Pipercross, Green or K&N. run this from your bumper to the cone.

Or you can do what i did, and get rid of the wheel arch liner alltogether.

Re: Re: Induction filter? WHAT ELSE??

You can get some 100mm ducting from your local plumbing supply (bathroom extractor duct) and fit that behind the bumper.

A few cable ties hold it in place.

Or you can do what i did and put the filter all the way in the bottom front of the engine compartment...So it gets all the rush of cold air from the front... its a 1.8 also

Re: Re: Re: Induction filter? WHAT ELSE??

where did u guys get your pipercross induction kits from? i have a 1.8 as well...

I wouldn't bother wasting your time or money. Lots of cash for lots more noise and only a fraction more power. Why do you think Fiat make a proper induction system?

That's right...........for teh optimum running of your engine. I bought a 155 HGT with a K+N already fitted. First job was it's removal. Second was putting the standard box on.

If only it was a two-stroke engine, eh?

Induction filters

Cheers people.

i remember seeing your s/s pipe before when i first goined the forum, looks bloody lovely Tom. Only problem i seem to have is that the bottom half of the original filter box is still there.

I'll see how i go. Been specially looking at the ITG ones recently, either those universal ones or the pipercross universal, as neither do one specially for the 1.8.

Re: Induction filters

I took the old filter box out totally.

I think its the 83mm one you need for a 1.8. There is another current thread where I give part numbers of the bits you need.
