Technical Induction Cone!

witha proper gsr i think the hosing is sturdy enough too support the cone

a bracket will be easilt fixable though, but i havent got a gsr styleee too try :(, im get a stainles steel pipe when i get one :D

Mase,

Im making an induction kit for my Sporting...are you using the 899 plenum chamber/igloo type plastic thing to fasten your piping on?? if so hold fire and dont buy the hose cos....I work for a company that makes Exhaust bending machinery and Im going to get a 1 piece really pukka polished Stainless Steel pipe made to fit on the 899 plastic cover and allow the fittment of a cone filter on the end....if you want I can sort you out one too??? Remember that if you bolt your kit together with pieces of hosing and pipes you are gonna cause disturbances in the airflow through to the engine.....thats why the GSR 1 piece hose allows their kit to make good power!!! My 1 piece stainless design will allow smooth passage of air....giving the same power!!!!

Its your choice mate....im only waiting for Fiat to get the Plastic plenum, bracket to fix it on and bolts in and ill make my pipe!!!

Cheers

Andy

Rovrav,

Why not forget the plenum and make the full thing from stainless pipe? Some manufacture and braising would make one nice very custom and trick kit!

Hi, Thought you might like to see how I secured the kit. The metal bar is an overdoor coat hanger purchased from B&Q. It was exactly the size needed

I've went down the similar road as Mase and bought a reducing elbow 76-51, hose joiner and straight reducer 51-45.

Two questions left for me to ask then I'll know all I need to.

1. If like me you had a K&N previous to the custom setup, what do you do with the thin hose that plugged into the K&N and went into the TB?

2. If the reducing elbow is kinda flexible and so is the universal filter that is going to be attached to it, how to do achieve a solid and airtight seal?

Cheers

Well, what Im gonna do on mine is remove that pipe completely, and then tap that hole in the TB and stick a screw in - then threadlock the 'stard in!

The K+N just uses advises you block the hose up with a screw or similar I think- I just like a more professional approach to proceedings

Get a small length (say 50mm) of thin metal tubing (1mm steel is fine) thats sized the same as the elbow at the end you wanna join to the filter.

Stick the pipe in warm water and that should soften it up sufficiently - or you might find sufficient give in it anyway to slot the tube in nicely -then stick a jubilee clip on and Robert is your mother's brother!

Cheers

I'm going to use some form of universal type filter, not sure what yet but it's starting to get expensive, after ordering some bling parts the cost is nearing GSR proportions!
