Indicator/Light stalk problem(Bravo)

Hi All,
I've had a problem with the light stalk, with dims on if I pull the stalk back to flash the lights, the heads don't come on, instead the dims go off and parks come on.

Also when dipping the heads I get parks, then pulling the stalk back to flash gives me heads. All very confusing !!
It can also be difficult to get the heads on (stalk keeps jumping back).

Has anyone had such problems??
I'm assuming it's the stalk that is knackered, unfortunately the Haynes manual strongly recommends having any work that involves removing the steering wheel done by a dealer.

Any comments?

I think you're right, a new stalk is needed. I had similar problems with the dip-beam not working. I believe that only a Fiat dealer can do the job because the air bag and steering wheel needs removing.

Only the dipped beam was affected on mine, so I managed to bodge it by connecting a relay to the side lights.

From the Fiat delay, I was quoted just over £200 (about 18 months ago) for the light/indicator/windscreen wiper stalk. I did a search of scrap yards on the Internet and found one for about £60. I didn't get a quote for the labour - just assumed it would be expensive, hence the bodge.

Your problem sounds a bit more serious than mine, so I guess you'll need the new part. I would guess that an hours labour would do the job - which I was recently quoted £45 (probably plus vat). The problem is the explosives in the airbag. You might be able to find a cheaper non Fiat garage that has an explosives licence.

Fiat Bravo - Dipped beams not working due to stalk

What sort of bodge did you do to fix the problem with the dipped beams? I have the same problem, and don't fancy forking out 100's to get Fiat to fix it.
