My mate has been pulling his hair out for the past year or so. First it was immobilisor issues, sometimes it would start sometimes not. He would follow the procedure, ignition off , lock all doors, lick a frog and try again. Several autosparks have had a go. Yesterday he got a warning message, high fluid temp, turn engine off..... but he hadnt even started the engine! Fiat dealer is saying next time you have a problem bring it in but if its not starting how can he? Is his experience unique? Hes got to the point of thinking he will pay what ever it costs to fix (preferable in south Scotland, north England.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

Maybe someone here can advise if Fiat"Multiscan" program can recognise immobiliser issues.

Hi

Most motorhomes in the UK seem to have aftermarket alarms or combined alarm/immobiliser sytems fitted, to satisfy the insurance industry. Is your friends immobiliser difficulty due to the Fiat factory system or an Aftermarket system ? A red "Padlock" warning light on the dashboard is a feature of the factory system, if it stays lit then it means that the system hasn't received a satisfactory reply from the chip in the ignition key.

It's possible the coolant temperature warning doubles up as an indication of low coolant level. Otherwise, the temperature sensor and its wiring is the first thing to check.

Hi,
You will find it's probably the ecu.
Causes immobiliser light on, no start or intermittent start, some dash lights missing & intermittent engine cutting out.
You will need to send off your ecu for a clone unit,
Good luck.
