i'm looking for image editing/creation software for my website. i like the features of photoshop, but not the price, especially as i will only use it for one project!

is there any cheap as chips software alternatives available, thats easy to use?

Photoshop is free on some download sites, lol. However, I'm not sure if this is legal at all.

Hi,

I am a webdesigner and at work I use adobe illustrator, for vector (free hand complex drawings), adobe photoshop (image manip). But i tend to use macromedia fireworks at home, i dont think you can beat macromedia fireworks for simpleness and speed - its on a free trial at www.macromedia.com

regards,

john

you could try Photoshop Elements. about 50 quid. Very good dumbed down version of the big brother and still has a lot of useful web features.

Check out W H Smiths etc.
Some freebie discs on computer magazines have free (albeit outdated) picture editing software.
I use Paint Shop Pro 5 (free, as above.) Although lacking in some departments, I managed to create our works website using it (about 30 pics, which all needed some editing/cropping/red-eye reduction/feathering/colour retouching.)

Mark.
