I have a 59 GP

In the handbook it says to use 5W40 ACEA C3 oil (for petrol engines) and it says the same for my dad's Punto Evo.

But when I looked up ACEA C3 (link below) it says it's for diesel cars

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-789-acea.aspx

Checking Shop4Parts also recommends Selenia K Pure Energy but this also states it's ACEA C3

If I put my reg in on EuroCarParts it says I can use "TRIPLE QX Engine Oil (5w40 Fully Synthetic (For PD engines) Engine Oil 1Ltr)"

PD appears to stand for "pumpe deuse" which is something to do with diesel engines.

I've looked on Google and some Fiat forum threads and quite a few people seem to be confused by this, since it's usually "just do what the manual suggests"

Is there any reason why I can't use this from EuroCarParts since it's 5W40 and ACEA A3 (which appears to be the petrol version of ACEA C3)

Edit: and my car is definitely a petrol engine. Unless it's some kind of miracle engine Fiat built that allows it to run on petrol or diesel

I have used castrol edge in mine before (top up) but currently using selenia k pure energy.

Like I said on a bravo thread,

These oils are not much different than A3. C3 grade oils are used these days in cars with DPF ( lower saps additives etc... ) Don't worry about it.

Older handbook (like mine) recommends A3 for example. Choose an oil that meets fiat spec number.

But of course if you want to go by the book, selenia k pure is your choice.
