I have a 51 plate fiat ducato the mechanic has mislaid the ignition switch,. I went to fiat they could find my vehicle but it wasn't showing any available parts. How can I get the correct ignition switch?
Reg is Gp51 ycg
Any help would be gratefully received.

Just a guess, but could any of the Ducato clones of that era do the job, Citroen Relay, Peugeot Boxer, Renault Master?
Maybe even from a scrap yard if stuck.
I assume nothing to do with immobiliser side as that would be a different issue.
Whatever you do don't lose the chipped key that the vans computers recognise!

Thank you for your reply. Do you know if all the ignition switches are the same? If I go to a scrap yard would any fiat ducato one work?

Later models will be different, I was thinking the "Citroen Relay, Peugeot Boxer, Renault Master" versions of your age of van might be a way to increase your search options.
What about my other question? :-

Hopefully you only mean the electrical contact side of the switch?

I believe that It's just the contact side. It had shorted in the white plastic connectors that lead the the wires.

Thank you again for your advice.

Anything like this on eBay? eBay item number:168158666750
It does say it includes your model.
Or this one with steering lock, you would need to put your chip into new key or fix near antenae, it is actually cheaper and includes free delivery from France.eBay item number:127686772089

I am not number plate concious and always struggle with references to registration plates. Please confirm that your vehicle is an x230 model. (1993 to 2002). The model number can be determined from the first three numbers of the VIN (see V5C reg document, or VIN plate on vehicle.) Also x230 has reverse above first gear selection.

For an x230, I think that you will need a switch with all 7 pins (blades) being the same size. This can be confirmed, by inspecting the connectors on the vehicle. Later Ducato models used a switch with six of the pins being smaller. From advertisements on eBay the x230 requires OE number 46543447, but I cannot confirm this.

For an example of what is available on eBay see here. However I must warn that I had trouble trying to fit a similar switch to my x244 in recent years. I could not get the switch engage correctly with the steering lock assembly. I eventually purchased a more expensive unit, which to my relief just dropped into place.

For the electrical connections made through the switch in the various position see my attached diagram.

Hi, thank you very much for your help it's been genuinely invaluable. I've just got back of my holiday so have only just checked the vin number and it starts zfa244000- so I should look for a x244 one.

See my attached diagram of the x244 ignition switch, in which I have included the Fiat part number.
