Technical Ignition/Cigar Lighter Bravo 1.8 hlx

Can someone tell me on this vehicle it seems I cannot use any accessories through the cigar lighter
Without having the dash board lights come on??
I have had cars where you can use the cigar lighter without having the dash lights come on..
I cannot check the manual as I don’t have one?

1996 model any help please.

The 12 volts cigarret socket is powered with the ignition on only but you do not need the dashboard/side lights on for power to the socket from factory.

I think you should have a look behind the ash tray to see if someone has chopped and changed your wiring.

Mines the same on a 2001 y reg ignition lights have to b on I've looked behind the dash and all looks normal
