Would I have to tell them about cheap alloys?

If i did. Would it increase the premium by much.

The premium im looking at is already £3000. For a Punto 1.2l Sporting 2002. (n)

Thanks guys
Dan :)

well you are supposed to lol, tbh tho id search around for quotes as £3k is a bit of a joke, im getting quoted £1350 cheapest and thats when i turn 18 (hence going to swap grandads car insurance over and have it in my own name when i get inhouse 1 years ncb in 6 months)

to be fair it doesnt seem to increase quotes that much with just a set of alloys etc, normally no more than £40...

If it's on the modifications list on the site then yes you should tell them. I cant recall the lists contents but I would try looking for other quotes

I took my last policy with them as a 19y/o male 0 NCB, 0 points and no prior incidents etc on a stock '99 mk1 Punto and they wanted ~£800; have you checked your details are right and you've put the right car in

if you are in the same boat as me...

17/18 years old, first year driving going on your own insurance, fully comp, £3k is about right, i tried everywhere and couldnt get less than that!

alloys shouldnt alter the premium by much, just compare the 2 quotes. get a quote without aloys then get a quote with them.

you are supposed to tell them about it, it could invalidate your insurance, im not sure if they would check if something happend though.

well. 3k yes. But only for 3rd Party fire and theft. I am doing internet quotes. Is it cheaper if i actually ring them up?

I seem to have rediculous quotes compared to everyone else.

you're not the only one.... I had quotes of £5k-7k!!!

Im with Natwest paying £3400 fully comp on a y reg 1.2 punto active (no mods)

Quite a few companies will not budge, but you are only talking to a joe bloggs in a call centre, they can only give you a quote what they have on the screen. One thing i didnt try was asking to speak to their supervisor/manager. They may be able to lower it just explain how you think its wrong that all young lads are put in the same "boy racer" catagory "almost certain to race aroundand have a crash" when not everyone is like that and you dont see why you should be paying £3k when people with no licence/tax/MOT/insurance are getting away with it for a lot less than that

just have a good moan :)

Yes declare all modifications.

Add your parents or other mature family to the policy as a 2nd driver. That should help reduce the premium.

If the person is declaring as a student, adding additional drivers will up the price regardless of experience, gender and NCB.

Just got my renewal with them at £584 10k miles fully comp at 20y/o 1 years NCB and pass plus

Wrong. Mine with Endsleigh went down £15 adding dad, and I'm down as a Student (y)

Jon.

nah most probably just the fact your driving a panda, and can't really do any damage with em... :p

but seriously 3k for car insurance, bloody hell id rather not drive at all.. (n)

Both my parents have 10 years NCB and they both added £35 last year.

This year my mum would have added £25 and my dad wouldl have added £70 now he's a motorcycle instructor.

I wonder what caused the difference then

3k is a little too steep for my liking too!

£3000 !!!! ... how old are you, im 17 and have a provisional as a named driver on my mums insurance, ive got a 08 plate 1.2 8v dub edition and my premium is £2100 with endsleigh.

And i thought that was expensive enough.

Im thinking of doing that pass plus when i eventually pass my test, it can bring your premium down quite a bit ive heard cant it...like up to 30% ??

A lot of insurance companies do not offer a discount for this, and, by the time you have paid for all the pass plus lessons at around £20 a go, you havnt saved much!

 You don't have lessons you have to pay for, for pass plus, its just a half day course / drive.

Agreeded that it dosen't always reduce your insurance by alot, but is well worth doing for experience points of view! Glad that I done it!

Jon.
